View Full Version : [ubuntu] Wireless Connection Problem

December 7th, 2008, 06:50 AM
I booted up the laptop today and the wireless is not working. It has been working fine since I installed Utuntu about 1 month ago. The wireless does not ever activate on bootup like before. I have tried to start NetworkManager in the console but I get the following error:

-bash: /usr/sbin/NetworkManager: Permission denied

I was logged in as root. I don't have the icon in the toolbar anymore.

I am coming from Windows so I am still a newbie to Utuntu. I read in another post to post the results to iwconfig and ifconfig. I have attached a file.

Thanks for the help

From iwconfig and the ifconfig it's sure that there is no problem with your wifi driver. It may possible that if you are using a laptop which have the start button for the wifi.So just restart your system and may work.

What file should I look in to make sure the wifi is set to auto? Also, what is the command to edit the file in the console?
