Hi, I'm experiencing a bizarre error while trying to satisfy a dependent package in Ubuntu. I'm asked to install a package to satisfy another when in fact the package I'm being asked to install before I proceed to the target package.. is already there according to Ubuntu! The packages are libxinerama-dev and libxinerama1. I'm trying to run an emulator (the latest SDLMame) on a Ps3 that requires libxinerama-dev, but it won't install without libxinerama1. The problem? Libxinerama1 has been installed and is present in Ubuntu, and lib..-dev still won't let me install!

Help (I'm using Gutsy by the way). What's the deal here? Oh and I did this manually, I could not use apt-get (no internet connection in Ubuntu via Ps3).
