I had Ubuntu 8.04 on my laptop (Asus F3S, with Radeon HD2400 Graphics) but when I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 it will not start. All I get is text screen messages ending with:
Loading, please wait...
Ubuntu 8.10 xxxx-laptop tty1
xxxx-laptop login:
Password:
I type in my username at the login prompt and my password at the password prompt (though when I type password it does not appear on screen and the cursor/prompt does not move) but when I press enter I just get the following message:
Login incorrect
xxxx-laptop login:
Any ideas as to what's going on/remedies?
