Not very professional if you ask me:

Linutop OS 2.2 now includes :
- Firefox 3.
- Open Office 2.4.
- Ubuntu 8.04.
How can Ubuntu be 'included'...? :/

What do you mean by stolen? Their overview page acknowledges Ubuntu 8.04.

Given that they are using the Xubuntu logo, which itself is a derivative of the Ubuntu logo, I think that Canonical might have something to say about this if they don't have the necessary permission to use it.

ok I didn't read all the way so I removed what I said earlier. this is just like webTV from back in the 90's it just is Linux based not Windows bases and it does way more.

Many people use hotmail addresses, but not sure I'd trust a company that uses them.

Bah. This will go nowhere. It's cheap and silly.

It's a nice little computer, and I do see a market for it. Not a big market though.

Hmm...

Which operating system does Linutop run on?
Linutop currently runs on an optimized version of a Xubuntu LiveCD. The modifications include:
- A video driver for the on-board video capabilities of the Geode LX processor.
- Gaim and Firefox pre-installed.
- We removed a few applications to improve and simplify user experience and minimise cost of support.

This sort of things comes up a lot. Why bother making products and things with Ubuntu on there or custom if people are going to complain about the logo being used and things. They show their support and get this nonsense.

I posted this link, because I was concerned that this company used xubuntu's logo.
I don't see anywhere on the site a place, where they say this is a trademark and it is owned by Canonical/Ubuntu Foundation(?)

They're using Xubuntu's logo because the Linutop has Xubuntu on it, so automatically it's acknowledging Ubuntu. It's not like they're marketing the OS as their own work. The Linutop is the product Xubuntu is running on, not the Distro it's self.

Does this mean that if I made a Linux device and put Ubuntu on it that I would have to put trademark information for the screen shots I use of the actual OS running. If that was the case then I would change distro on my product straight away.

Linutop have been active as a promoter of Linux devices for a lot longer than Dell, HP and Toshiba have been giving token Ubuntu support.

Perhaps we should welcome the fact that Linutop have chosen to use Xubuntu....?

Who's we?

Them. (http://www.linutop.com/linutop2/info/faq.en.html) I got that from their FAQ. Their wiki (http://www.linutop.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) also have links to xubuntu.org and ubuntu.com. They don't have any statements regarding Canonical's ownership of the trademark. But I get the impression that they market their product as a device that taps Ubuntu.
