Hi,

I'm a newbie to linux but have always wanted to try a linux distribution. One day, I finally decided I had enough of windows XP and decided to install Ubuntu 8.10 in my old laptop as I heard that Ubuntu is one of the most popular linux distros out there.

I tried to install Ubuntu 8.10 on my Fujitsu laptop and after waiting for a very long time, I got this screen:

I do not know what is the problem at all and therefore am kindly seeking you kind aid in solving my problems.

My laptop specifications are as follows:
- PIII-M 1 GHz
- RAM 512 MB
- HDD 30 GB

Hope that this information is sufficient.

Thanks,
Ed

Hmm...

Would that be the ubuntu-8.10-alternate-i386.iso?

I'll give it a go then. :D

Thanks,
Ed
