Hi, as the 8.10 is available. I wanna know whether should I shift my 8.04 to 8.10?
I have made some configuration on my 8.04, including changing the environment from utf-8 to gbk, installing some software, etc. Do I have to repeat such operations if I update it to 8.10?
The last question, what's the command for updating?
I am an newbie to Ubuntu, maybe those questions are very simple.:p:p
Thanks.

8.04 is still supported, if everything works' i wouldn't upgrade.
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading
a must read
We recommend that all users read the release notes, which document
caveats and workarounds for known issues. They are available at:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/releasenotes/810
edit: your configuration and applications should remain the same after upgrading.
i would consider checking out the release notes, compare the problems listed in the notes that apply to your hardware.

As inobe posted, http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading is where to start. 8 easy steps...
I think your config should stay, but I haven't tried upgrading in this way as I have just returned to Ubuntu 8.10 after an absence for a few 'mac' years.
