Hey,
I'm having a problem with Ubuntu 8.10. I turned the computer on one morning and it wouldn't let me log in. I was prompted with this weird "Activation" window.
What does this mean? Do I need to reformat?
Thanks.
PS: This was meant to be a joke. Please don't call me a troll.

You may want to make this a little more obvious.
I was about to call you a troll...

Tee hee hee...
Some parts of the photo are out of focus, but it's certainly pretty realistic if you're not paying enough attention. Nice job, and thanks for giving me a laugh!

Your problem is you aren't running a Genuine (http://www.linuxgenuineadvantage.org/) copy of Ubuntu.
Install Linux Genuine Advantage (http://www.linuxgenuineadvantage.org/) to enhance your Linux experience!

Nice joke, I opened the windows and at first thought someone was playing a joke on you.
I should try this on someone (this and the BSOD as a screen-saver)

As a sysadmin who's seen plenty of ext3 boot-fsck-failure blowups, I strongly urge you to turn that one off -- it's REALLY REALLY MEAN :)

Linux Genuine Advantage (http://www.linuxgenuineadvantage.org/) is intended as a joke but it does illustrate how easy it is to create a real malware for Ubuntu or other GNU / Linux distributions and the perfect way to trick many a GNU / Linux user to install it by bashing Microsoft
Make Steve Balmer or Bill Gates look really stupid and you may get a some GNU / Linux users to enter that sudo password so one can install a rootkit.

People who are thinking to call our OP here a troll clearly don't know what a troll is.

Just so that there is no misunderstanding, whatever you pay is good for only one-year subscription.

I hope you thoroughly read the 42 page EULA beforehand ... I seem to recall one section stating the "owning of your soul" upon agreeing to it.
I may be wrong though ... My memory is terrible these days :(
