View Full Version : [ubuntu] What motherboard to buy for good FakeRAID support?

I'm about to put together a budget system for a server at an office. I want to install Ubuntu 8.10 onto a RAID10 array using FakeRAID built into the motherboard (configured using the BIOS). I am going to install using the alternate CD, and I want the installer to recognize the array as a single drive without me having to do anything complicated.

Currently I'm looking at the ASUS P5E-VM HDMI Motherboard which has an Intel G35 North Bridge and an Intel ICH9R South Bridge. How well is the ICH9R controller supported in Ubuntu 8.10?

What FakeRAID motherboards/chipsets work well with 8.10? I'm not interested in SoftRAID because I want to be able to boot into a striped array.

Thanks in advance!
