View Full Version : [ubuntu] Package Manager Proxy

I'm fairly new to Linux, having been a Microsoft and Apple guy for decades. I installed Hardy Heron on a PC connected to my work network - took the box home and put it on my personal network.

I changed the Network Proxy to Direct Connection, and yet every time I try to install a new package the system times out with a series of messages all resembling:

W: Failed to fetch http:// yada.yada.yada/yada Could not not Resolve 'myworkproxy.company.com'

I have checked all of the locations I can think of:
System->Preferences->Network Proxy
FireFox->Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Network->Settings
Synaptic Package Manager->Settings->Preferences->Network

...and all are set to Direct Connection to the internet. Where is the package manager finding this entry and how do I get rid of it.

Thanks
