Since I'm a n00b to Linux and want the most secure system I can have, I thought I'd ask you guys and the Experts here before I attempt any of these... I already have a firewall and the update manager set for security updates...

The Big Ol' Ubuntu Security Resource (http://www.itsecurity.com/features/ubuntu-secure-install-resource/)

first of all, if you dont configure your firewall(iptables) , it does not matter you have a firewall or not.

I dont read all of the article, only important things.

First : (from the article)

-Reconfiguring shared memory
This is the most important thing there, since all of the local exploits start here : ) (at least first place to try :) )
-Disabling SSH root login

You probably dont have sshd installed if you have, this is also important

You can also apply bootup security there.Others are not important a lot for home users.

Thanks for the info binbash,

I installed FireStarter Firewall and from what I have read it basically sets everything up for the home user...
