View Full Version : [ubuntu] crashed while updating, reboot leads to theme issues

Hi,

My problem was as I was updating Intrepid as normal, (not updating from 8.04 to 8.10 or what-have-you) and I was playing a game at the same time. So the game crashes the laptop and I had to hold the power button to turn it off. So I didn't realize I most likely turned it off while it was updating.

So surprisingly everything everything worked fine on reboot except for the actual theme itself. I can open 'Appearance' and pick the theme, it will only change the window to the theme, but not the panel bars or the icons. (see attached screenshot) It seems that I'm stuck on the Human Theme :(

I reran the updates and had to use the dpkg --configure -a to get that running again. However, it says there are no available updates.

So is there any way to redownload the previous updates that I messed up on installation or is there a way to fix this problem without reinstalling Intrepid.

No other noticeable errors or issues at the moment.

specs:

ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics
AMD 64 bit processor
HP pavilion dv5-1004nr laptop

sorry I would've searched to save time but nothing came up :(

Thanks,
Desert Fox
