Hi,
Yesterday I tried to have the laptop video go out to my tv. I connected a VGA/composite cable from the laptop to my crt tv. The TV showed some squiggly lines and distorted images but generally speaking it didn't work.

I then connected my laptop to my PC lcd monitor, rebooted ubuntu and the video out was perfect.

So I'm not sure if there was a configuration issue with the tv or if what I'm trying to do just isn't possible (and maybe I should return my vga/composite cable). The laptop has ATI x700 video card, I'm using the Envyng ATI driver. I tried to open the ATI Catalyst Control Center program but clicking on it does nothing (nothing opens up). I also found some references to using aticonfig in a terminal window. This program wouldn't work for me, it kept giving me errors. Something like "line 33 in /etc/X11/xorg.conf is not allowed". I can't remember the exact message, but can update this thread later today if it helps.

thanks
