View Full Version : [ubuntu] Install Problem

December 3rd, 2008, 06:27 AM
I can't install Ubuntu on any of my PC's. I have a Compaq V300, 1540 and 1500C. I downloaded the ISO several times and burned 8.10 and 7.10 with Roxio Basic9 and ImgBurn but can't seem to install Ubuntu. All of the PC's have been re-formatted. I must be missing something, I've burned a dozen CDs trying to isolate the problem. The PCs will boot to the install screen and that's about it, they never get to a setup screen.
Any suggestions would be apppreiciated

Are you making sure to check the md5 of the iso before you burn it? Sometimes stuff does get messed up during downloads.

Also... are you making sure to download the right version, i.e. are you trying to put a 64 bit version on a comp that can't handle it?

If those aren't the case then perhaps you can use the alternate text based install.

This might be useful if have a version of Ubuntu already installed, but I'm guessing you don't so...

If you have windows then this'll tell you how.

If you're on a Mac, then :( I have no clue. I'm sure your Googlefu will come thru.

That Ubuntu one might be useful in other Linux versions too... never tried it. Best of luck to ya my man.

P.S. I went through a similar deal and burned about 6 copies of a program I downloaded twice only to find out I had a corrupted version... so I feel for ya :)
