I have not doen anything except use my Unbutu 7.1 for some time now. I need to upgrade FireFox and Adobe Flash Plater.

I have downloaded them but can't remember how to install them.

I have tried .tar and .deb I am too stupid to remember and I can't find where I had it written down.

All help and instruction will be very appreciated. I need little words and baby steps.... Assume I know nothing becasue that is a correct assumptioon at this time. I'm old and getting forgetful...

Next time please make sure you read over what you have written, as quite a lot of your post doesn't make any sense. I will interpret it as best I can. I am going to assume you meant that you are using Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn).

To update firefox you can download the package from here:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/feisty/i386/firefox/download

As for flash player, you will have to download that from the add/remove programs menu, as all other downloads are for newer versions of Ubuntu.

Also, please consider upgrading to a newer version of Ubuntu as it has better support, more packages and better security. You can either download it or request a free cd from here:

If you are using gusty 7.10 and wanting to upgrade to firefox 3.0.3 you can go to Software Sources (System>Admin>Software Sources) and under the "updates" tab enable "unsupported updates" then go to synaptic (system>admin>Synaptic Package Manager) and search for firefox3 and install it.
