Hi there, I have a very old laptop and I'm trying to install ubuntu on it. However, there is no optical drive or floppy disk drive. I was looking into how to install it through a usb device or boot from a network, but I dont believe this laptop can be configured to boot to network or can be configured to boot from usb drive because the bios is very old and cannot be upgraded any further.

I was thinking is there anyway to put the ubuntu files on my C drive and as windows is booting up I can select it from the boot menu or something like that. Im confused lol

Not sure what your system specs are but intrepid 8.10 requires 258mb ram min. You may need to look at a lighter distro.

an external cd rom should be fine, they are very cheap as well.

i wouldn't even think it be a loss if that doesn't work' i believe it would work.
