I was trying to get a friends laptop to get wireless in Ubuntu. I have tried downloading the restricted drivers for the network card and then I tried ndiswrapper to get wireless to work but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I upgraded from ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 and now the problem has subsided
