Hello,

I'm encountering a problem accessing a small number of external sites (specifically slate.com and berkeley.edu up to this point, although there might be more). Outside of those sites, I have no problems with internet connectivity. I also know that the sites themselves are up, as I can access them through a separate, windows based, PC on the same network.

The problem doesn't seem to be restricted to my browser as neither ping nor wget seem to work. I've also tried accessing the sites by IP address instead of name with no luck. My resolv.conf and host.conf files don't have anything out of the ordinary, and there's nothing in my hosts.deny file.

In addition, I was able to access those sites about 24 hours ago. The only change I've made since that time is to upgrade my kernel via aptitude, although I don't know why that would cause *this* problem.

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 on kernel version 2.6.24-22.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
