[SOLVED] Good editor for programming in?

Does anyone have any suggesions regarding what is a good editor for programming with? Something with a sidepanel for recent documents and the ability to minimize functions would be nice. Kate is good, but I use Gnome. Scite lacks the side panel and doesn't seem to remember settings.

I use Gnome - and Kate works fie for me.

I love the split window and language sensitive folding - even though it does mess up occassional

    Komodo Edit is decent.

But you're missing something. A Good editor to program what? Minimizing functions (known as folding code) is language specific. Not all editors are equal on all languages in that regard.

You have been here long enough and made enough posts to read the stickies. This has all be discussed to death.
