Video files won't play
Whenever I try opening a video file it just crashes the program I try to open it with. This includes Totem, Mplayer, VLC, and Banshee. The file types I experience this with include but aren't limited to .avi, .ogm, .mp4, .flv, and .divx. I very recently upgraded to Intrepid. I know by default Ubuntu doesn't support some restricted codecs but I installed the restricted extras for Ubuntu.
Some input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Video files won't play
I've had much the same problem but didn't crash anything.
The only program I can get to work so far is the KMPlayer. Now that I've got something working, I'm leaving well enough, alone.
However, everyone one here seem to be very helpful.

Hmmm...the sentiment is appreciated but the problem still needs addressed. I found a thread with the same problem. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=990786
