... How would we implement that though? The average user wouldn't be able to do that.

Well, that's unfortunate, but it can't be done without patching kernel. Perhaps we could add it to the mactel patches ?

Cyberdork33 is one of the admins, he could get the ball rolling on that.

Well I got it figured out on why I wasn't able to build GRUB2. GRUB2 doesn't like being pulled into a windows environment first! I thank everyone's help in getting this figured out. Only one thing to add to pxwpxw's package list, autoconf.

Now I'm looking for a way to do the treaking in grub so that users don't need to patch their kernels.
agp enabled fbdev could be a good option for nvidia, how do you do that.

It's in the kernel source, drivers/char/agp directory.
    Thanks
EDIT: BTW, from your previous log files, I think your mb21 is 945 chipset, so you should change the intel_915_driver structure. mbp41 and mb81 don't use intel-agp though, but I guess the cause should be similar.
    Yes 945.
Can we clarify the issue being addressed - i.e. the visible symptoms
and the configuration, I seem to have missed it.
I don't think I have a distortion problem with the MacBook21 using xorg intel driver with efi.

Yes I would expect stage 1, for enthusiasts, a patch and howto just requiring user to apply patch and recompile kernel.
Later stage 2 applied in ubuntu kernel if generally acceptible, maybe when grub.efi booting is offered as install option.

First, we need to know which module handle the agp. You can browse through the /sys/devices/ directory and see if you can locate the host bus for agp. If you're not sure, please post the output from lspci.

I mean the console mode, doesn't the screen go crazy if intel-agp module is not blacklisted ? This patch should fix that.

If all is good to begin with, you don't need this at all.

Macbook4,1 has the "screen crazy" problem when it is in console mode if intel-agp isn't blacklisted.

Thanks, I will look at that.

Ah, that one, yes I get the 'crazy' console screen booting grub32 with agp, mine is more like a venetian blind, or a bathroom mat.
Would be much better to have a usable console like grub64 without blacklist.

No problem at the desktop though, except when leaving.
