Cant Connect!

Hey guys I'm new to Ubuntu
I recently installed Ubuntu 8.04.1 onto my old
Dell Inspiron 3000 and I cant seem connect to the internet
Im sharing my internet with my HP through a ethernet hub
please help (:

How exactly are you trying to connect? How have you got your network setup? Is your network connection high speed or dialup?

Im connecting my old computer with ubuntu and my new computer to a router through a ethernet hub
Im using high speed internet COX

I also haven't been able to install any of the updates
because it says I cant connect to the net
I think i need a driver or something for this
