Angry kernel update problems 8.04 - Need help !!!!

    Running 8.04

    1. Here's the error I'm receiving after the newly release kernel update:

Your kernel was built with "gcc" version "4.2.3", while you are trying to use
"/usr/bin/gcc" version "4.2.4". This configuration is not recommended and
VMware Workstation may crash if you'll continue. Please try to use exactly same
compiler as one used for building your kernel. Do you want to go with compiler
    "/usr/bin/gcc" version "4.2.4" anyway? [no]

    2. If I select no it stops the installation.
    3. If I choose yes it stops the installation

Re: kernel update problems 8.04 - Need help !!!!

I was able to get vm workstation up and running...

I used version 6.0.4-03057... when prompted for gcc I went ahead and said yes... this allowed me to install the program....

I understand that this probably isn't correct... I have done a brief test and everything seems to be running correctly... If someone can give me the complete technical explaination behind this I would really welcome it...

But for now life is good...
