Can't log on to Yahoo Messenger with Kopete.

I can't log on to yahoo messenger with Kopete, and Pidgin stops after approximately 15 seconds, and the error message for Kopete is

1 - name lookup has failed

any ideas on how to get it to work?
(BTW, i've reinstalled pidgin about six times and there is no difference.)
also, it wasn't working on pidgin either

Pidgin is the last thing to test as a standard. As long as there isn't another team finding the solution for them - any protocol won't work. It's beyond their ability to get anything but the very basic chat functions, thus they are just increasing the major version each time they find yet another way of drawing the interface. Try some other app to see if it works.

Having the same problem here the last few days. Strangely I get the same problem trying to log into the web based beta, it gets stuck on 'Signing in as...'.
