I currently have one Wiimote controlling my HTPC as a mouse using IR. My HTPC is just a desktop that I built from boneyard parts running Jaunty and a 160GB hard drive with all of my DVDs ripped to ISO images on a 1TB external hard drive. I just use nautilus to browse the hard drive and then use VLC to load the ISO and play back the movies. When MythTV bumps up to .23 so MythVideo supports ISO DVD playback, I'll switch to using MythTV (might even have something better than an impressive POS desktop for a HTPC).
Anyway, this is my problem. There are times where using the accelerometer is preferable over the IR input. I set up an init.d script that runs wminput in daemon mode at boot right after the bluetooth loads. Is there a way, or what is the best way to set up some kind of way to either switch between IR and accelerometer without having to physically go to the computer? Something I was thinking about is making wminput recognize the Wiimote as a second controller some how on command, so it loads an entire different button and mouse control layout. Mind you, switching between IR and accelerometer inputs or controller settings from the wiimote is required.
