Can evolution be setup without using an email address?

    Hello everyone.

I have been looking at using a calender program for tracking appointments/work etc. I know evolution has this capability but I can't get past setting up an email address. I don't want to use evolution for email just yet, I just want it for the calender atm. SO my question is can I bypass the email aspect and setup evolution without going through all the email stuff?

    Thanks in advance
    Michael.

What about Evolution though? Can I set it up without using an email address?

    You're welcome.

I'm not sure if it's possible to bypass the E-mail part, I don't think so (If that is not an option when you start it).
    I don't have it installed.

I hope you'll find something out.

    Hi K3

On my machine, if I click the date and time in the Panel, it pops up with my appointments, tasks and calendar.
However, in looking at it, it seems all the data from my PDA is in there automatically.
So, I don't know if this is BECAUSE of the PDA or if PDA stuff is just added to it.
    In any case, it's editable!

Thanks Kellemora. I've tried numerous times even faking email info but it won't let me do it.

My problem is my ISP has gone totally webmail and no longer has the details that Evolution requires. My father uses MS Calender for all his appointments and it is extremely useful to him as its just there and doesn't need setting up or any more programs added to it to work. It is things like this that hold some people back from converting over to Linux from MS.

You can (in most cases) run Windows programs Wine (or some other emulator)?

That is if you can't find one for Ubuntu, but I'm sure there is one.
