It look really nice. One thin I wonder is, do all of these 'ubuntu based' distros use the same repos?

if it's ubuntu based, it uses the same repos. i have yet to see one that does not. although i believe that linux mint may have a couple of their own.

Most distros based off others will use the same repos, and possibly have their own hosting the few packages that aren't in their original distro's repos. =]

I've played around on the live dvd of Open-Progex 8.20 32bit for an hour, and I was impressed. It seemed very well polished in look and feel. Excellent selection of applications. Will be installing this soon as it has almost all the additional apps I usually manually post install. Even has a nice selection of alternative themes. Multimedia worked perfectly. Compiz-Fusion is set up nicely. I tested this on a 1.5yr old hp laptop - 1.6 Core due, 1Gb Ram with intel graphics. This is really an all in one distro.

I tried it liked it but found that in comparison to Ubuntu it did not like or let me install my printer my GFX card was not supported and could not play videos all the various players kept crashing

Haha sorry I just can't get used to that name. It seems to have a pretty decent choice of applications, though that takes out my fun of customizing my Ubuntu. I guess if I was lazy that distro might look appealing.

i used the live cd for a couple of hours on a friends laptop and have to say i really like it. it has all codecs like linux mint, and a great selection of pre-installed multimedia apps, but not overkill like ultimate edition. plus it has compiz working out of the box, awn and a great theme. after a fresh install of progex you would basically need to do very little tweaking if any.

i think i will put this on my next new computer build. it really is a great "out of the box" solution.

I downloaded it yesterday and have been playing around with it in virtualbox before i make the "jump".

One thing that worried me - coming from a windows where the "EVERYPIECEOFSOFTWAREISPOTENTIALMALWARE" roolz, i'd like to know what SYSLOGD and KLOGD are.

Googling throws them around without context. So, anyone help me out?
