Um, I have only the dimmest grasp of the things that I don't know, but this does not seem correct to me:

At a command prompt in 8.04 server edition, I type
sudo set
and part of the output is the PATH, which includes /usr/X11R6/bin at the end.

This directory does not exist on this machine. I feel I should attempt to change this, but again, I hit one of my limits: I cannot figure out where the default value for the path is stored...

Should I simply leave well-enough alone?
