    Aiptek Action HD Digital Camcorder?

I'm thinking of getting a camcorder for myself and wanted to check and see if anyone has had issues with this one. Any info on the camcorder itself or compatibility issues with Ubuntu appreciated. Its a Aiptek Action High Definition 1080p Silver Digital Camcorder Here is a link to the manufacturer's site:

It's on sell at Walmart right now for $150 so I might just grab it if no one has had any issues with it.

    Thanks for any info.

I am also considering this camera. Did you end up buying it? Did it work with Ubuntu? I was planning on using it with Kino. Is that what you use?

I bought this camera and have had it for a couple of days now. The quality of the camera, in my opinion, is pretty decent considering the price. It saves its files in Quicktime (.mov) format, and Cinelerra has trouble with these files from this particular camera. However, I ran the files through ffmpeg using winff, and saved them as .mov files, with 8000 bit rate and dimensions set to 1280x720 at 60 fps (basically everything the same as it was recorded with) and Cinelerra is able to read these files. Cinelerra still pops up lots of error messages about the files, but it doesn't seem to have any affect on being able to use them. Here is a link to a video I made with this camera and Cinelerra, in case you're interested:
