    Why KDE 4.2 will rock

    http://introducingkde4.blogspot.com/

This article is great. It goes through all the reasons why 4.2 will be awesome. It has screenshots!

    Digg it here: http://digg.com/linux_unix/Introduci...creenshot_Tour

Also, the new kicker looks fantastic:

    Also, Web browser Plasmoid:

Remember that thread I had floating around about a new way of using a computer? Well, even though KDE's nothing like it, it's absolutely the future for me now.

It's going to be...amazing. Can't wait for it too!
KDE 4.1 already blows my mind, KDE 4.2 will blow my brains, who knows what KDE 4.3 will do?

    By 4.3:

    - Kwin as fast/stable as Compiz
    - Even more Plasmoids
    - Faster than Gnome
    - Some mind-bogglingly awesome new feature

Those are what I hope for.

Don't you think it's funny how many people (me included) thought KDE was going downhill with 4.0? It seems the dreams of the developers are starting to become reality. Now I understand what they were aiming for (and boy is it awesome!)

There is nothing wrong with eye-candy, and KDE4 is certainly shaping up to have plenty of it... but it's not going to be the kind of thing what will sway me to use one DE over another. I work mostly with a terminal, so what I value most in a DE is not so much the level of eye-candy, but rather how well it integrates with the apps that I use; and given that most of the apps I use are Gnome/GTK, I find that Gnome is the DE that best suits my needs For KDE users though, or people looking to try something new, the future certainly looks bright.

Wow this does look really nice. I think when it's out I will install KDE4 on Ubuntu. I still find it amazing that I can install another desktop environment from within the default and then choose which one I want to start up from the login screen. One of those "woooahh, free software is amazing" moments!

What I've noticed is more and more people switching over for longer, after every KDE4 release.

Re: Why KDE 4.2 will rock

If KDE 4 would stop with the overly shiny, clumsly, clunky look, I'd happily go back. I think KDE 4 is trying so hard to compete with Aero that it has become an eyesore.
