    Network Manager Icon accidently deleted

I am using 8.10 and am very happy with it. I deleted the panel that was displaying the network manager icon.

Can anyone tell me how to add the handy network manager icon to a Gnome panel? ( my wireless is working fine.) It doesn't show up on the list of icons on the panel's add item list.

    Thanks,

Press Alt->F2, type in nm-applet and press enter.

Thanks, I tried that and it didn't work. I accidentally deleted the original panel that contained the network manager icon and then created a new panel. I couldn't get the icon to show up on the new panel.

I solved the problem by reloading a backup image of the partition from Acronis. It seemed drastic but nothing else seemed to work.

    Thanks again,

I think if I added the Notification Area it might have worked.

The notification area is definitely required for the network manager applet to work. Sorry I left that out and glad you are working ok again.
