Shame that he died. Although his later books were not quite up to the mark, I grew up reading Jurassic Park, Sphere, Andromeda Strain, etc., and I'm sad to see such a great author go. I really did know that he was that old.

much better than the movie... in fact, it was one of the best books i ever read.

I absolutely love that book. The movie was pretty good too. However, whoever decided to make Jurassic Park III (movie) should be exiled. Pure fail.

I also like The Andromeda Strain, The Lost World, The Great Train Robbery, and Timeline.

One of my favorite Crichton novels was his lesser-known 1996 novel Airframe. It challenged the public perception of air safety and showed how the wrong parties are sometimes blamed for air accidents.

Crichton was also the creator and executive producer of the NBC television drama ER, but actually wrote the scripts to only three episodes, those being the first three of the series.

I wasn't crazy about Airframe. It had its moments, but it never got me very interested.
