printer idle - can't write page 1 header

My lexmark z605 printer worked just fine untill I got this error message:

Printer State: Idle - can't write page 1 header.

Found an old(er) thread with a few people having this problem, but it is closed, without any solution.

Using 8.10 and dell inspiron 1501, the printer is connected via usb.

    Any help appreciated!

    Hi,

I had the same problem, so I decided to install the library libstdc++5 from the synaptic and now my printer works!

    Good luck!

    Hi,

I don't know how you found out about the solution but thank you so very much! I installed that libstdc++5 and now I could print!

My environment is Ubuntu 8.10 (32-bit) on Dell Inspiron 8600 and my printer is Lexmark Z615 (that I got free with the laptop ages ago! LOL Linux rocks)

Thank you, this worked for me too. I installed libstdc++5 and now I can print!

My environment is Ubuntu 8.10 (i386) on Dell Dimension 8400 and my printer is Lexmark Z600 (aka Dell Photo Printer 720).

I am new to ubuntu and am impressed with the community already. Cheers.

This works for me, too. Even now in the year 2011 and Ubuntu 11.04. I am using the Canon MP270, a rather old model. I also use a 32 bit Driver on a 64 bit system.
