Hi guys,

this may be a very noob question or it may not. Basically in windows you have server 200x as your domain controller. It uses active directory as its user management program. If you have a client computer such as one on XP you can connect to this domain and logon using a domain user. So my question is can linux do something similar, I have done some research and found that Ldap and samba are the way to do. But still do not know exactly how this can be acheived using open source products only.

Your help regarding this would be much appreciated and I am sure this will bring me a step closer to creating a completely linux enviroment at work and ending Microsoft's reign...lol

Cheers
