[SOLVED] macbook 3,1 not booting after fresh 8.10 install

Just downloaded 8.10 and installed on my 3,1 macbook and it won't boot. Tried reinstalling three times and no go.
Any ideas?

I'm gonna try 32 bit though...

maybe a problem with grub installation?

tried to reinstall grub and still no joy. hardy will boot though.
maybe I'll try to upgrade.

After downloading the alternate install cd I chose to upgrade from it.Works perfectly!
