trying to convert for ipod with vlc, no mp4v codec

hi,
i followed the various guides where it's said to chose mp4 for encapsulation and mp4v for video codec.
The problem is that there is no mp4v codec in the list. when i try the converting via commandline vlc tells me that it cant find the mpeg4 codec.

any help?

I have the similar problem. I'm trying to open a .avi file and vlc is having error about not having mp4v
