External drives powering off
I have two USB external drives, and I'm having an issue where both of them will power off about 3-5 minutes after boot up, even if I'm actively using the drive. I can be watching a video and it will just stop and give me a "file could not be read" type of error. The lights on the drives go out, but the dismount icon still shows next to the drive name in Nautilus, and I can still view the icons for the folders on the drive, but if I select anything I get a "could not read" error.
Unplugging and replugging the cable makes no difference. I can't get them to remount correctly at all, until I reboot, and then they only work for a few minutes again.
What should I be looking at to try to diagnose the problem?
