Can't install ubuntu 8.10 on my laptop?

The error is:
iwlagn: Error sending REPLY_ADD_STA: time out after 500ms.

I get this error right after the orange bar loads after selecting Install Ubuntu. Neither 32-bit or 64-bit works, and I burned the discs on the lowest speed (suggestion by someone) and it still didn't work. I really don't want to have to come out and say "**** Ubuntu, I'm sticking with Vista" because I really want to use Ubuntu.

I would suggest trying the alternate install cd. the problem is the driver for your wireless card.
