    Recommend me a raid controller

I have been using my Nvidia onboard raid controller for about a year now, with 3 SATA2 drives in RAID 5. The array is used under both Linux and Ubuntu (I dual boot), so I have had to use dmraid under Linux.

This is fine but installing Linux with dmraid is a real pain, so I am looking for a hardware raid controller (one that doesn't need dmraid to work) in order to make my array transparent to the OS and so easier to install various Linux distros.

Any suggestions on a (cheap) SATA 2 raid card that will do this (preferably PCI-E for bandwidth)?

    Thanks for you time.

    Oooh, me too!

    Anyone?
I calculated the odds of this succeeding versus the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid... and then I went ahead anyway.
