Re: No Desktop Effects after upgrade to Intrepid

I suspect subscribing to a bug (both at Launchpad and possibly an upstream bug) could get you notified of action on it, but otherwise I've signed up for the intrepid-changes maillist. This way I'll get notified when new packages are accepted, although the traffic on it may be petering out with less than a handful of days to Intrepid's release. I also subscribed to the topic on the nvnews forum so when an update is posted I'll get it as well. If someone has a better way to keep track of it I'd love to know about it.

Intrepid will be released today. Does anyone know if this issue with nVidia drivers is fixed in the final release?

It's not an intrepid issue - it's the lack of driver from nvidia.

There has been a beta released for legacy cards

Death was standing behind a lectern, poring over a map. He looked at Mort as if he wasn't entirely there.
You haven't heard of the Bay of Mante, have you? he said.
    'No, sir,' said Mort.
    'Famous shipwreck there.'
    'Was there?'
'There will be', said Death, 'if I can find the damn place.'

Thanks for the link to that thread. Did that work for you? You sounded as if it did not work.
I am not interested in desktop effects as much as I am in getting 3D acceleration. I use a program called pymol that seems to need 3D acceleration. After upgrade to Intrepid pymol does not start - it crashes with an error:
    Code:
freeglut (pymol): OpenGL GLX extension not supported by display ':0.0'
