Another sound problem...Intel ICH6

Hello. I'm so sorry to have to post yet another sound problem, but I am desperate. I have a Gateway M250 notebook with an Intel ICH6 sound card. I have tried Intel drivers, I have tried ALSA, I have tried OSS, I have tried everything. I've followed every guide outher there related to my card, and ones that are more generic. The card is recognized correctly, but there is simply no sound.
Please someone, I need help. It is extremely aggravating having no sound on my latest Ubuntu notebook.
Anyhelp grately appreciated, thank you.

Okay, never mind I finally just figured it out. Here's a solution if anyone wants it at this thread.

Wow! That certainly is a bit more than what I could pull off at this point and this is after having Ubuntu 5.10 as my only OS for 5 months and working through what seemed like a ton of bugs. Impressive work!
