What about people that use Chrome over Firefox?

This has been languishing, so I want to try and give some pointers on the question and broader issues with anonymity.

I've no idea what your options are for Chrome. You probably could simply tell Chrome to use a localhost connection to the Tor process on your machine. But, as a non-Chrome user I don't know how to make those changes.

What I've done for Firefox is to install Tor, and configure as-per the instructions on the Tor site; those are always going to be the most-current. You, usually, then want some sort of filtering proxy. I've used Privoxy, which helps by cutting out most tracking cookies, making sure stuff is wrapped into a localhost SOCKS proxy.

The reason you want/need a localhost SOCKS proxy is that you do not want your DNS lookups leaking out to your ISP; DNS lookups have to go out via Tor.

Now, a prior poster has asked about Flash. Sorry, but you cannot trust Flash through Tor. Flash has the built-in functionality to query your local machine and find out your real IP address. The same goes for JavaScript and Java.
