Penny Arcade Game giving Audio Error

Whenever I start the Penny Arcade Game (Rain Slick episode 1) demo, I get the error

Audio Error

The game has not detected any audio drivers on your system. The game must now shut down.

This occurs in the native linux version and the Windows version running in wine. Has anyone else had this problem? I have no problems playing audio from any other source.

Yep, it seems like Penny Arcade dislikes pulseaudio.
