no sound on TV

Hello everybody!

I'm tring to connect my TV with the computer so I can watch movies with the larger "screen" (also my samsung screen plugged in ofc).
There is an HDMI cable and RCA cable plugged into the TV. I managed to get image on both screens (using Nvidia X Server settings, Twin View) and at resolution 1680x1050 but the sound does not work then. The sound did work before when the image on TV did not show. I tried to change a little prefs in alsamixer but nothing works.
Anyone who's good at this and can help me?

- Check if the problem is the TV or computer, see if you get sound when you connect to something other than the TV.
- Check for some settings on the TV. On my plasma I need to select the sound input (but this is not an option when I use HDMI).

Yeah, I do get sound when the RCA is not plugged in to the TV.
But the thing is that I did get sound when I didn't have image on the TV. But when I did change in Nvidia X Server Settings to make TV show image too then the sound dissappeared.

I did try every thing on TV's preferences for sound. Didn't help :/

The thing is when I unplugg the hdmi cable, the sound comes back... very weird right?

Not really. Your TV expects audio and video in the HDMI cable. When it does not get video, it takes audio from a separate input. It is the same with my TV, I can't use HDMI with a separate input for sound. So I use VGA/DVI for video and RCA for audio.

Have a look in your TV manual, I am sure it is mentioned somewhere...
