isos , clone machines

Hi all, i have some silly questions about creating images (understand images as .iso) in general. If i make an image of a partition (using partimage) that contains an operating system, and i burn it on a cd/dvd, this dvd/cd will be booteable?, then i can use that dvd to clone the machine?

I don,t think your method will make the DVD bootable.
