Solved: Please see my followup separate post, Sansa Clip MP3 player now useless?
Hello all-- I'm hoping that another Linux user who happens to have a Sansa Clip portable media player ("MP3 player") could make an image file of their Sansa's entire memory using the program dd at the command line in Linux, and then make that image available to me so that I could restore the partition and filesystem structure as well as the necessary system files to my non-working Sansa Clip.
Others have reported minor difficulties with this device under Linux, but it seems to work fairly well and with a firmware upgrade even supports OGG and FLAC.
Thanks,
Steve
