It is more than one month that texlive 2008 is out. BTW it seems that texlive 2007 is the only one in the repo (even for intrepid). I was wondering if any developer is considering this...

it's beeing worked on, have a look here.
I'm hoping too that TL2008 would be available soon and I appreciate the work of the involved people.

Here is a short howto on installing from CTAN. Also LyX seems much improved.
