Can't install Ubuntu onto my ACER Desktop

Hello.

I just got an acer aspire M3641 and am having trouble installing Hardy Heron ("HH").

It has an NVidia GForce card, 4 GB RAM, 2.10 GHZ - I can't see why I can't install it.

I have a SATA HDD

I attempted, as I have done so in the past, to run HH off the CD to make sure it runs smoothly. This time, however, I got to a black screen with writing which shows that it is attempting to open/install somehting, but then FREEZES.

Can anyone recommend anything? Thanks in advance.

i have also a m3641.
The Hardy Heron Freeze a lot on it

so, I have installed the Gusty and it works

but i can't have the 1680 screen width and i can't have sound with it.

I'm waiting for friday to test the Intrepid version.

Trying to install ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid but Freeze also !!!

The screen resolution is ok (1680x1050)
But after a few moment it freezes.

it's always when i use Firefox 3.

I search in a log file and i see ipv6 a few times.

Does somebody arrived to install Ubundu 8.xx on an Acer m3641 ?

hello,

after trying to install the good resolution (1680x1050) on the Gusty... i give it up ! (one entire day to try)

I re-install the 8.10 intrepid. So, the sound works fine, the graphic card and the resolution are ok !

BUT.... it always freezes when i go TO SURF on the internet.

when i only send and receive my e-mails it's ok.
When i download packages via synaptic: it's ok.
but when i use Firefox or Epiphany => it freezes !

Please, does somebody have the solution?

Do you have desktop effects enabled if so turn compiz off. Try using no visual effects and see if that helps.
