I admin linux servers, have for the past 10 years. I would love to run desktop linux. There's only one company that continues to stop me.
Adobe isn't going to release all of its platform for ubuntu anytime soon. They'll keep posting "we're looking into it" statements like they have for the past 10 years.
I've heard that running adobe apps under wine is not easy. Should I go virtual XP instead?
Here is what I need:
Flash IDE
Flex Builder (NOT the annoying Eclipse plugin version of it)
Illustrator
Photoshop (no, not gimp)
AIR apps need to run.
How bad is it? I depend on these so I can't have them just "sort of mostly" working.
Or should I not run Ubuntu and just stick with XP? Or switch to macos which runs all of the above natively? I've been wanting to switch for 10 years and this always ends up stopping me.
thanks
