    Question Toshiba Laptop Hardware Damage?

Hi, Its my first time using ubuntu. Seems to be good, but ive read somewhere(on google) that it could damage the hardware -e.g- Shortens the life of the Hard drives, damages the network adapter...
    Is this true?
If so, anyway to repair this. Or do I have remove ubuntu. I still have Windows XP.

    Re: Toshiba Laptop Hardware Damage?

I've been using Ubuntu (the "Feisty" flavour, version 7.04) for over a year now on a Toshiba laptop. Here are some links to threads on a couple of issues I've faced and (for the most part) found solutions for:

USB keyboard and mouse not working after a while: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=854684

Phantom audio CD on desktop (more of an annoyance than anything)/strange sounds from within the laptop: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=935552

Trouble with updating AVG free (not a hardware specific issue): http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=889552

I've also noticed that my battery life has shortened somewhat, but I believe that probably has more to running off A/C a lot than specifically using Ubuntu.

    Feel free to ask questions.

EDIT: You can set things up for a "dual boot" installation, where you can keep Windows (or whatever other OS you choose) on your system, and choose which OS to run when you boot your system.
