Okay i am thinking about buying a tv tuner for my desktop so i can watch tv. My question is can i have a tv tuner/card hooked up then have a direct tv box hooked up to the tv tuner card so i can watch tv while in ubuntu. Is this possible?

it's very doable, keep in mind when buying the card, to check whether that particular one is already supported.

all i want is to be able to have a directv boxed hooked up the satilite outside then goes to the directv box satilite input then goes out the out cable port and then into the tv tuner so i can watch tv.
